Mark, you're just fine. Just keep doing exactly what makes you happy and gives you purpose. Your readers will notice that your stories are authentic and come from the heart. Just don't base this relationship on paid subscriptions. These are tough times in our western world.
You've got a loyal reader and fellow photographer/creative with the same insecurities here. 👊
I love being on Substack. There is no ideal place, but it seems to be one of the better ones. As a photographer myself, I applaud you and I will support you.
And I agree with @perfectlight, keep doing what you love and what you connect with. The right people will find you!
well, first of all wish you all the best! all the best to you and your marriage!
secondly i'm just a bit sorry to inform you that you are wrong. why do you have the need to put a label on what you're doing? you are doing what you like: taking photos. those photos don't need to be labeled, don't need to fit in any category, they are photos and that's it! don't worry about categories, just keep doing what you like. do you really think that everybody likes your hdr photos? no way! but it doesn't matter, it is what you like and that's it. that should be your goal, present what you like without worrying about others.
As my father would say, Off we go like a herd of wild turtles!
Mark, such a well written post offering plenty food-for-thought for us fellow photo substackers. Charge ahead!
